Woman of the year Thursday group
Congratulations to Victoria-voted by the Thursday group as their Woman Of The Year 2010. Also, well done to Jas as runner up and Heather who was also nominated, but could'nt attend due to holidays.
What a fantastic banquet we had. Such delicious items, it's hard to believe we are following a food optimising plan!
Our next competition is Miss Slinky! Who do you think is looking slinky in our group? Who's going to look fab in that little black dress at the Xmas party? Get your nominations in to me.

Monday group Woman of the Year

Woman of the Year competition

Congratulations to Fiona who was voted Monday groups Woman of the Year. Fiona has lost an amazing 5 stone and looks likely to be "in category" to go through to the next round. Well done Fiona. A mention to Marie and Sam who have lost 5 1/2 stone and 3 1/2 stone, who were also up for nomination. As I said in group-they're all winners cos they're LOSERS! Over 14 stone lost between the 3 of them. FANTASTIC! You're all inspirational.
I was a bit disappointed that many didn't stay to group, so a HUGE well done to those that did and those that brought some food for the taster. More food ideas gained and more inspirational stories shared.

Thurs 12th Aug

Awards
I was chuffed to bits that the Thurs group again achieved highest average weight loss in our area for July. Well done guys n gals.
Group weight loss to date-45stone 8lbs!!!!
We also won the award for warm and friendly group, which is a point system award based on new members, weight losses, retention etc so our little old group did really well, as there are some large groups out there!

Well done to Sharon and Jeanette-both achieving their club 10 awards-10% lighter!

Woman of the year
Next week is our celebration of The Woman Of The Year. We are having a taster night, as we do for all our competitions, so if you can bring something along, it would be great. Who's going to be crowned our Woman of the Year? Make sure you're in group to cast your vote. Lets party!

Kurtis's cookery challenge
Last week, the group chose SALMON as the food item. My son Kurtis had to find a recipe out of one of the Slimming World books or magazines, I bought the ingredients, then he cooked the meal. He chose Salmon in soy noodles with oriental vegetables out of the Extra Easy cookbook. It was delicious. It was suberb. It was splendiferous!! You MUST try this recipe-yummy!
The group came up with more meals with salmon.
Next week STRAWBERRIES.

Busy week

Wow, what a busy week. I took over as relief consultant at the Monday night group (6.30pm Masonic Lodge, Lockwood St, Driffield)this week, which was really weird, as I have been attending that group as a member for the last 17 months. I was really nervous and I don't know why, because everyone there is lovely and it must have been strange for them too. But, I'm so keen to help people lose their weight and I hope this showed.
Funny point of the evening (amongst many) was me presenting myself with my 5 stone award! I'm still not at my target, so will continue to weigh in at the Mon group as usual.
Monday group info to follow next week.

Thursday group
Fab night in group-with a visit from the inspirational Cedric Calvert-who's lost 4 and half stone in 16 weeks! I invited Cedric along to inspire the Thurs group (not that most of them need it). I remember Cedric starting in our group and saying he wanted to lose 5 stone for his special birthday in September. I must confess, that I along with others raised my eyebrows, because although I know what fantastic losses can be achieved by food optimising, I thought Cedric was maybe going to be disappointed. I must admit though, I admired the fact he was aiming high, because when you reach for the moon, you might just catch the stars!
Cedric brought in his weights, that he kept adding to as he lost more and more weight. He would pick them up every now and then to remind himself of how much he had lost.
Cedric's weight loss is incredible, but not I must add, usual. He has also had the spare time to do a LOT of exercise (by his own admission it is a lot of exercise).
He is inspiring other men to come and join, which is amazing. He is definately going to achieve his 5 stone loss before his birthday!!! Well done Cedric!.

Awards

Well done to- Beulah 1/2 STONE, Rachelle, 1/2 STONE & Freda 2 STONE, Well done everyone. Gordon who reached target has set another one-good luck.

Slimmer of the week-NIKKI losing 3 1/2 lbs this week. Well done Nikki.

Woman of the year competition

Victoria and Heather have been nominated for our groups Woman of the year competition to be held on Thurs 19th August. Well done ladies. I have also received another nomination-will announce next week, but remember to nominate for the lady you feel deserves to be nominated. If our winner meets the criteria to go forward to the next round-district final, this will be on 18th Sept. However, we are having a taster on our group night, so we'll party anyway, even if our lady doesn't meet criteria!

See you all soon-please add yourselves as followers.

A fantastic well done to GORDON on losing 2 stone and calling target-our first member to reach their personal achievment target. Gordon has been on holiday for 2 weeks and come back 5lb lighter-I'm going with him next time! Gordon couldn't stay to group so I'll present him with his lifetime membership certificate, when he can next stay to group. Well done Gordon-and a special mention to Freda too for losing 3 1/2 lb while they were on 2 weeks holiday!
We had 3 Slimmers of the week this week-Jackie, Angela & Doris. Doris was also the Slimmer of the Month for July with 11 1/2 lbs weight loss, Jas in 2nd place with 9 1/2 lb and Gordon 3rd with 9lb. Doris also reached her club 10-what a night for you Doris! Well done all.
KURTIS'S COOKERY CORNER CHALLENGE!
My poor long suffering son and your glamourous shop assistant, Kurtis, helped me cook the delicious jalfrezi chicken from the curry cook book this week, which gave me an idea. I challenged the group to suggest a food item for Kurtis to find a recipe out of the vast collection of Slimming World books and magazines that I have, cook it and tell us about it next week. We had the suggestion of meatballs and I look forward to trying them. Thats one nights meal I don't have to cook and one bored teenager has something to do off the computer!

Some fantastic suggestions in group this week for syn free or low syn foods for our imaginary picnic-look how many syns you've saved!! Next week-BBQ ideas and perhaps a little taster for you....
